Edit a trailer for a feature-length movie as you compete to win your ticket to the post world’s most prestigious training program at Hollywood’s hottest movie trailer studio, The Refinery.
At the end of the paid 10-week program, you can earn the chance to immediately start as a junior editor, working with the team behind the trailers for Avatar, Squid Game, Avengers, Deadpool, and countless other hits.
How to enter
Download the contest pack, which includes a professional Adobe Premiere Pro trailer editing template to help you create a real 2.5-minute trailer at Hollywood specs. We will announce 3 major studio films for you to choose from at the start of the competition. You will be responsible for sourcing the footage for the film you choose.

the dos and don’ts
Use a 16:9 (1920x1080) aspect ratio and export as a H.264 (.mp4) file.
All submissions are due April 16th at 11:59 pm PT
Our panel of professional trailer editor judges will review final submissions before winners are announced on the @Trainrobber YouTube channel.
At least one winner will be invited to join The Refinery’s paid 10-Week Training Program.
In the program, the winner(s) will become familiar with all the departments within The Refinery, from creative to editing to music to graphics, while learning the craft of trailer making from the best in the business.
At the end of the program, the winner(s) may be hired as junior editors working on studio trailers at The Refinery.
Winner(s) may participate in the 10 Week Training Program remotely within the U.S., if needed.

Yes, the trailer should be no more than 2.5 minutes, NOT including the GMTC logo.
Export using a 16:9 aspect ratio (1920 x 1080) as a H.264 (.mp4) file.
Yes, you're allowed to submit more than once. All entries will be judged.
You don't need to ask for permission. If you run into any issues with copyright, don't hesitate to reach out!
Yes, you're welcome to use any editing software you'd like.
Yes, they're acceptable.
If you post, follow, and tag us on one platform, then you don't need to do so on the other. It's one or the other!
There isn't a required caption, but you must tag our TikTok or Instagram account and use the hashtag #trailerchallenge in your entry.
There's a 16x9 option on Instagram, but feel free to also use letterboxing or email me if you run into any issues!
You'll have ownership of your submission to use as you please!
Feel free to email an unlisted YouTube link or downloadable file if you run into any issues.
